HI, i have tried search for this answer but can not find it, soo, do you know? This is for smallblock chevy, Many thanks
It depends on the configuration of the blower itself. Some manufacturers built 10-71's with small openings but usually the manifold needs to be opened up for the larger blower. If the manifold has a large flat surface towards the rear that is not a problem but I would think that most small block manifolds will not have room as the motor is short (compared with a big block) and the placement of the distributor does not leave much room at the rear of the block. Roo
HP consumed spinning the rotors both friction and weight. All blowers use the same bolt pattern, some manifolds just have to be opened up in the back. Running a distrib offset to clear is just another headache one must deal with. 6.80's @205 375ci and a 6/71
As far as bolt circle all of the 6-71, 8-71, 10,71, 12,71 and 14,71's that I have owned were the same (bolt pattern). You would probably need an offset mag- distributor to make this work. I believe I ran an 8-ti without offset. I made the manifold out of a tunnel ram. g
sometimes a adaptor plate can be made. usually used in the reverse aplication where the manifold is set up for a larger blower and a smaller one is being used. i question the use of a 10-71 on a small block to.
This blower is designed to fill 10 cylinders of 71 cubic inches. a little math puts it at 710 ci motor. little more than a small block.
belt issues can get messy. there are some options like different sized idler pullies and juggling upper and lower pullies not only to get the correct ratio but to also adapt to the belt. putting the idler on the inside or outside on the belt can make a difference. all within reason.
Hi all! I have talked to some people around here too, and yes, this blower is too big... I think I let this charger p*** me.. Maybe go for a hilborn intake instead. If I buy this charger, I need to go bigblock. Thanks for advices guys, realy get fast answers =)
thats incorrect the blower for diesel application was designed to blow out exhaust on a 2 stroke detroit diesel hence the name blower
Hi there, i have been building blowers and blown Engines for over 25 years now... i must say that you have many experts here... or not. You can put a 10/71 on a small block but i would only recommend it for race methanol... The first thing you have to decide is how do you want to use your blown Engine, how much hp:s do you want. I have a personal best on sbc with over 1300hp on e 85 but if you want a nice driveable Engine for the street rod i would recommend about 600-650 hp and thats no problem to take out Daily driven 350 Chevy with hydraulic cam with out getting ripped off. You can Contact me if you need any advice.
