I tried the search and was unable to find a post. I was wondering if it's possible to put a late 40s early 50's style truck bumper on my 47-52 chevy car front and rear. Goodmark makes repro bumpers for trucks and the cars bumpers are way over priced. Doesnt need to be correct for car, but are the bumpers similar enough to swap? Thanks for any help TJ
National Chevy sells car bumpers for $350 front and rear. Its not cheap, but it could be easier in the long run. The track widths for the cars and trucks are a few inches different, it may take some work to make them fit. Anything is possible with a torch, hammer, welder and time.
they will look like crap. they dont wrap around like the originals and you'll have a big indent at each rear corner.
Thanks for the quick replies. I have been looking for a truck bumper so I can compare and test fit. Never did find one. I'm not trying to make the car chrome look new, just want to get different bumpers. Thanks again
How about Desoto bumpers? Or flip the originals for a different look.... http://www.stanceworks.com/2012/12/1950s-chopped-chevy-custom/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jacksnell707/3019503463/
