Quite true, but one of the points of this thread was about how very many Deuces utilize the Auburn style dash. Probably about as many as use a Deuce dash in an A. I was only making a comment/suggestion, and I do give you credit for making something yourself rather than buying an off-the shelf unit which, nice as they are, most of the dashes on this thread really are. Nothing wrong with that either, in moderation.

    Man that's a purdy interior....

The auburn dash is cool, the Knecht ones look really nice.

Put a Kencht in my 3/w.. If you do go with one, be sure to decide on your gauge size/brand before ordering. Hole spacing is different on S/W gauges and Autometer.

    Looks nice!

Is it a one off or is it some type of production piece? HRP

I believe it's a "GM Diesel Powered" dash panel. This a "Straight 5" version and I believe they had a 10 gauge version also. Not sure what year they came in though......

On my panel like Kaydub's, the square in the center above the gauges had "GM" stenciled on it. I painted my background black (I like Kaydub's gray better). I then took a round "Ford" script hat pin with a blue background, removed the pin part, & epoxied it in the square area. It looked really nice.

Kaydub is right though, they came in big GM trucks.

Here is one I picked up for my '32. Sorry about the pics, old *** computer. It's got an engine turn insert, thinking about doing a differnt finish on it.

It kinda combines the Auburn style and Stewart Warner styles into one...

That would be gorgeous nickel plated with the engine turned panel and a polished lower insert.

    It'd damn-near be jewerly.

Good idea. I'm also thinking about painting the insert the same blue as my roadster, leaving the 'surround' polished as it is.

I will post pics when it's complete. Still need gauges...and a running car...

For reference- the aftermarket ones are all different sizes.

Mine is a Hotrod Garage, it's all aluminum w/ no SS insert OD is 14.5" x 6". It tarnishes so needs constant polishing- which I hate. The engine turning is wearing off as you can see in previous pictures of mine. You can specify spedo hole size at either 3 1/8 or 3 3/8.

The Knecht is aluminum w/ stainless inserts. OD is 14.75" x 5.8750"
Probably the nicest looking of the bunch & most expensive. Probably matches the bottom curve on the 32 dash the best. You can specify spedo hole size at either 3 1/8 or 3 3/8.

The So-Cal one is aluminum w/ stainless inserts as well. Doesn't have the "pop" of the Knecht insert but is probably closer to the real Auburn less the lip. They list the measurements OD 18.5" x 8" but I'm not sure, may be a error. 8" would put the bottom an inch below the dash! I'll have to call.
They also only list a hole size of 3 3/8" so if you plan on a black face Autometer, you are sol. It does say machined in house, I wonder if they can go 3 1/8 if you ask?

Reason I brought this back up- thinking about swapping out mine while all my gauges are out. Mine alwaqys looks dirty unless I hit it w/ some semichrome.

The thread is 4 years old but that's a old Stewart Warner dash insert, most likely was in a boat. HRP

I know this is an old thread but I found it useful. Karl Knecht told me today (7-23-2020) he is no longer making instrument panels which is too bad.
