I'm getting ready to drop the *** end of my 63 mercury Monterey , I'm either going to use a 3" or 4" block . My question is on that car , do I need to use a tapered block for pinion angle or will it be ok with a straight block ?

The 64 I just got had 3" straight blocks. It worked fine but was just too low for me. I went with 1" blocks. I have 275/60/15 in the rear.

I went with bigger wheels and tires , so a 3" or 4" will actually put my body at about 2" lower than stock

Just make sure that you don't go past the scrub line(parts lower then rim)or that ****er aint going to roll with a flat tire.
