    Hey Gang
Just curious if anyone knows if you can run a quickchange rear with a factory 32 gas tank? Or is there a clearance issue?

You will need to notch the tank! Do a search and you should find one here.

  3. go deep enough with the notch so that it not only clears the quickchange but you can change out the gears

As already pointed out quick change rear axles and stock deuce gas tanks do not go hand in hand.

You will definitely have to modify the gas tank. HRP

  5. Keep in mind that if your going the quick change route you might want to show it off and keeping the tank will limit its visibility.
If you haven't purchased your quick change yet Halibrand was thinking of doing a run of there old housing that they designed and built many years ago for clearance on a 32.

I've built quite a few deuce ch***is with Winters V8 quick changes with no tank notch. The axle center line to the rear of the case is less than Halibrand. If The customer wants a little more clearance I make a custom 2 inch spreader that moves the spreader and tank back to the rear about 3/4 inch. Also as a side note the wheels are in the center of the wheel well. Correction, I can change the gears by jacking up the car and letting the rear end down.

I have done this on mine and saved the notching process. The Deuce tank is small enough without adding a notch. I am not familiar with Halibrand doing anything anymore, let alone running some new QC's. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one. Industrial Ch***is shows one on here with the stock tank in place.

    ^^^^^
****py pic, but it will clear by half inch or so

  11. I'm running a Winters Champ QC in my '32 roadster project. I bit the bullet, notched the tank, and added another tank in the trunk for additional capacity.

  14. I used the shorter studs and nuts on the rear cover of the Winters V8 Quickchange and it clears the tank, I can remove the change gears, and did not have to notch the gas tank.

I am putting a 32 together now with a winters quick change. One reason that I used the winters is because I was told that they are one inch shorter. The stock tank fits with room to spare. I did have tot ripoff some excess flange material, but that was more of a cross member issue.

I have seen it done with the flange on the tank removed and welded up , the spreader bar moved rearward and the rear bolt located to a captive nut inside the spreader. And the tank moved rearward also and it all just sneaks in. And looks nearly stock till you peak lower and spy a quick change.

I fitted a Rodsville quick change ( same as a Halibrand ) in my 32 coupe running stock fuel tank did not have to notch the tank. Will post some pics later.

  18. What about using a Original Halibrand Dummy QuickChange. Yes! They did Make one, I believe it was by Richard in Wellington, Ks. I've Seen it! It was a not Function/ Not Working Quick Change-No Gears! You may also, check with Sid of Breham, Tx. He may have info on it. It was made for that Purpose. So, as Not to hit the Tank! I've got a 32 RPU, I'm using a Halibrand H-101, which uses a Model A Type 28-32 Rear End. And it Will be using a Model A Rear Crossmember. And It Won't Hit. Use a Stock K-member with a Industrial Engineering Co. K/Member support Crossmember. It bolts in. See April 2013 Rod & Custom Mag. Also, Google ( M.E.C We're Only 32) Gene Sanders of Arkon, Oh. He makes a Late Ford 5-Spd Adapter to Stock Torque Tube. Also, Makes Bolt-In Boxing Plates. He's a Great Guy & Master Tool, Die & Pattern Maker. Just Him & His Son. I'm using his Components on my Build. You can put any Chevy v/8, V/6 153 IL-4 with Offy or WilCap adapter, SBF V/8 with Ansen, Baby Dodge Hemi, using a Offy or Wilcap Aluminum Adapters. Any Questions.Calk me. BugDTexasKid (903) 952-1933. Or there easy thing to do. Take a 2 Lb Ball Peen Hammer & Give it a Big Wack! In the Center of TA Tank!
