I know this question has been asked before could not find it. Is the sedan/coupe frame the same as a convertible on a 1940 Ford?

I believe I read once that convertible frames were made with 1guage thicker steel. The convertible frames also have extra braces in the cowl area that run from the frame rail to the x-member.

This is true Convertible and Pickup frames are made of slightly heavier gauge material. Yes they will interchange with all the other p***enger cars and light trucks.

I thought they were almost identical. I looked at this car last year but he supposedly sold the car to someone else. I think he wanted more money than what we agreed to. He parted the car out and what's left is the frame. I leave Finland in the morning and when I get home I will go pickup the frame.

I was under the impression they were the same except a little reinforcing in the cowl area. HRP

The frames are the same; Convert and station wagon have a piece between the left side outer rail, and the X, under the driver side floorboard. I read that car frame is 20 ga and the pickup is 11 ga.

If you need 40 frame measurements, I can email them.

The cowl braces are on both sides, and I think you meant the car frames are 11 guage and the truck/convertible/woody frames are 10 guage.
