My 37 has been in the family for 62 yrs.My grandpa sold it new in 1937 from the family dealership for $619.My dad bought it from the farmer in 1951.It still runs but I'm in three process of putting a nice drivetrain under it.Would like some advise from anyone.Like what are draw backs on using straight axle with disc brakes compared to going with IFS ?What rear axle should I use ?

My first vehicle was a 1938 Ply PU.
I'd stay with solid front axle, disc brakes, later rear end and drivetrain of your choice.
The flathead 6 isn't so bad if you pair it with a modern 5 speed.
Lots of folks here look down on another small block chevy, prefer flavor like the flattie.
8 3/4 rearend from 60s 70s Mopar makes great rear end.

Do you still have the original drive train? Would you consider selling? Thanks, David

Also, Like SMOG GUY said, don't write off that flat 6 just yet. They can be decent runners and are well built. Do some research and you'll see all that you can do with them. 8 3/4 inch rear or some guys use and Explorer rear end too. I'd stick with the straight axle and add the discs. Keep the six and add split exhaust manifolds, dual carb intake and get a high compression head or shave a bit off of the stock head, do the T-5 tranny conversion and a later rear end and you're in business!!! Cool as hell, drivable and not like everything else!! Add a fresh set of blackwall bias plys and roll on!! That thing is sweet as hell!!!!!
