The O/T Shelby in post 80602 is sitting in the Ed Martin Ford parking lot in Indy. I see other Shelbys and Mustangs as well. I can remember going there in 1970 with my brother to see the 69 428 CJ vert that Bob Glidden was just finishing up. Got to watch him do a couple of short shots with it in the side lot after closing.....glory days

 

She had style, and dare I say it, she had Grace too.....

This is the late Griff Borgeson in 1959 overseeing the return to the USA of the Packard Cable Special which had been purchased years before by Bugatti , around 1919.
There were two such cars that returned. One of them ultimately made its way into the Smithsonian Institution.

Griff wrote a number of books, two of them are:
"The Golden Age of the American Racing Car" and
"Miller" ;
both excellent reading.

I visited this historic site a few years ago. It's a rather interesting historical building out in the middle of nowhere, run by the Kansas Historical Society.

Highland University, Highland, Kansas. Originally founded by the Presbyterian Church on the Sac-Fox Reservation as an educational institution for the tribe, it is now a public two year school.

 

Union Pacific depot in Highland, Kansas. The caption says between 1950 and 1960, but I think that Ford dates it a little closer to 1960 than 1950.

Thanks for verifying what I thought when I first saw the picture. It had to be the Eastgate shopping mall in Indy. Especially with a store called Wassons. I can recall going to IRP and watching the Ed Martin Ford Super Stockers.
