I'm swapping out my hydromatic trans in my 1955 Pontiac with a newer Pontiac 400. I have some issues with this, one taken care of with an adapter that allows me to adapt the flex plate and starter. My real issue is the front center motor mount. With the new trans, I lose my left and right rear motor mounts that originally mount on the 55 bell housing. So now I have one motor mount in center front and one trans mount in the center rear. I am afraid this is insufficient when it comes to engine torque.

Has anyone dealt with this before. Is there any commercial front motor mount to solve this issue? I would really like to keep my 287 engine in this car.

Look at the tri 5 Chevy after market side mounts. They are made from 3/16 ths plate I think. Bet you could fab up something sorta like them for your Indian.
