hey I would be interested in how you did it too, from what I hear its almost easier to run a small hydro off the height adjuster key , but I would love to bag mine. -sub
they sell airbag kits specifically designed for torsion bar setups. (did one in an escalade) sorry to mention it on this board, but they have tons of kits and universal torsion kits
if i call out a name, then a buncha bent ass folks are gonna start talking about this company and that company, so go to the local convienience store and pick up a mini-truckin mag or a sport truck mag
word i hear ya, thanks for the advice, the mini truck bracket kits will work on a older car and everything(minus some fab) ??
Some universal torsion brackets: http://fbimini.com/product.asp?idno=3979 I would link you to suicidedoors.com but I cannot find his universal torision bracket kit on the site. Just thought I would like you to a photo of what you are looking for and you can atleast get an idea on price
Mazda & Nissan 80s and 90's minis had torshon bars. (not the "Ranger" Mazda) - all you need to do is remove the bars, weld in cups where the shocks were and set up new shock mounts. Pickup any copy of Minitruckin' and there will be a tech article on the process. What you need to watch out for is the clearance for the bag. On my 63 Valiant there is not enough room to install a bag, I'd have to install an air shock or build a hoop over the engine to run bags over the upper A-arm. You will probably have to notch your subframe to lay out on your K-member. Send out some pix of your car!
I have never seen a airbagged mopar front end work right. Bounce all over the road, horrible ride, etc. I am sure someone out there has done it and its worked. I would like to see what they did that the other guys missed.
I posted a thread a while back about bagging my 66 Chrysler. There were alot of good ideas, but nothing that I really wanted to use. My idea was to build a tube bag tower that put the bag above the upper A arm, and mount the bag to the top of the A arm. Reinforcing the a arm is a must. I'd put some tabs off to the side of the tower to relocate the shock. Then from the top of the tower, run a removeable monte carlo or strut tower brace to the other side. It looks fucking sweet in my head, but thats about it! I know someone sells tubular A arms, which might be the was to go. The stock ones are kinda thin and I would hate to break one, onnaccounta they arnt suppose to take the weight of the vehicle. Anyway, thats my mess. Good luck with yours.
