The only other place I know of is the right frame rail over the rear axle. But im not sure when they started putting them there.

I don't think I've looked for it on any GMCs except a 66 4x4 Suburban that did not have it stamped anywhere on the frame (I blasted the whole frame).

On chevys of that era it will be on the top of the driver side frame rail near the steering box, and also on top of the frame under the middle of the cab.

I checked on this also as I have a 63 GMC. The only answers I got was that they did not stamp the frame as the Chevy truck models did under the drivers side of the cab. Depending on the state, it was registered by the motor number or the tag on the door column.

The following site is where I got my help:

I used to have a 63 GMC 1/2 ton also and had to get in inspected in WA state to register it. Upon inspection the inspector got the head inspector when she couldn't find the frame number and was told that the GMC Didn't have a frame number. Then she got all wide eyed because the ID plate in the door frame was PoP Rivetted! she wanted solid rivetts. This was a rusty old farm truck!! She was then told to lighten up, that they switched to pop rivetts around that time also. What a Bit*h!!
