I'm copying this art deco rear view mirror for my Dodge but , I can't get 2 new beveled edge 4" mirrors . I can re silver the existing mirror but I will be 1 short.
    Any ideas?

Great looking car,,you should be able to get a glass/mirror shop to cut new mirror,,not plate but shop mirror would work great. HRP

Wow! What a beautiful car. I love the dressed/hopped up flathead six? Is it a 25inch Kew? Where did you get all the dress/hop up bits from?

    Cheers

Actually, quite a few of them still survive. They just made fewer than Ford or Chevrolet in the first place. MAN, I LOVE that deco mirror!!!!

  7. Beautiful car. I am amazed at how much it resembles the 29 Graham Brothers panel I am in the middle of.

  8. Graham Bros was basically the truck side of Dodge Bros :)

Bumper bar is on for the last time.

The original restored Victory steering wheel was too big and instead of chopping it down this '26 Chrysler wheel was used instead.

The wheel is now 14" and has about a 1 1/2" dish is painted black .
The colour looks wrong in the last pix as the billiard ball in the centre hub also looks greyish............

I got mirrors from ebay but had 10mm bevel and were 5mm thick and poor quality. I eventually found a local art deco mirror expert that done them for me and they were beautiful.

From this pix you can see that the car needs a stoplight and number plate and the back of the car is finished.
Trim in February and on the road in March ?
It's going to be a happy new year .......................

  12. Not to be a downer, but the correct taillight is darn-near impossible to find, and expensive when you do. Will keep my eyes out for you!

  13. If you are looking for taillights look up " chopped30parts " on ebay you will find what you are looking for . I bought complete new lights with glass lenses with painted cups but he can also supply stainless if you wish. The lenses embossed with the Dodge script.Your car is a beauty keep up the great work .

Cowl lights were installed and in the last picture so , for those that missed that detail ................here they are.
The "orange " glow in the reflector is my camera. The lacing around the cowl was green and has been dyed black .
The globe holder has been changed to a dual contact and the lamps will now be used for parking and indicators.
The back of the headlight with a 5 pin plug installed to replace the original 3 pin unit.
You undo the large knurled " nut " and hold onto the small knurled section and pull to dismantle.
The conduit will connect to the brass sleeve.
The radiator end of the conduit now has a thimble instead of poking it through a rubber grommet..............

  16. Victory head and cowl lights are prone to cracking (both the bodies and rims)- looks like you found a nice set!!!

I used the steel headlight bodies for this reason and as for the cowl lights , they were cracked and needed repairs.

This is the stoplight lens and door ready to be fitted.I found a glass lens with the word STOP molded into the lens and had it copied in plastic . This one is the plastic version.
Stewie made the stoplight stand from scratch and Coffs Chrome done them justice. You see that its hollow to conceal the wiring.
A close up of the base shows the extended " nuts " Stewie made to assist with bolting through the frame.

Hood catches can't be purchased from a catalogue. A restorer in Queensland who advertises in Restored Cars magazine made these new for me from scratch. The ring pull top is off a tractor and is similar to a '29 Chrysler.
A rubber bump stop to finish off ................sweet.

Parcel tray was turned into a glove compartment and is lined with black carpet.
You can see the seat belt slots in the corners.

There's a whole lot of silly things to do now for completion . I hope to have the car on the road by the 19th. October so that I can take it to the All Chrysler Day which will be celebrating 100 years of Dodge motor cars.
