School bus is a cool idea but if it was cab width there wouldn't be much room inside. If it was narrow you could add some rear fenders to it. I think I would like it to be axle wide and make it a party truck/camper.

  2. What if you blew something like this up and set it on there? There are many different teardrop shapes, I just chose a few that were fairly good side-on shots.

Can I just say, I NEED to build one of these. I dig the 39-46 Chev's the best I think. I wish I could find a full cab somewhere.

  7. The absolute best sleepers are the old 30" size. Sleeping arrangements are always one wide, two deep!
And Patrick46, I love that truck, but the style is very different from a simple teardrop.

I almost choked when I saw that they paid $23,000 to rebuild the 3208. I'm guessing it was rebuilt at a Caterpillar dealership based on that price. They're great engines but Caterpillar seems to think their products are made out of gold and prices the parts accordingly. I was going to buy a pair of used 3208 marine engines to rebuild and install in an old yacht I owned until I found out how much the parts would cost.
The truck looks pretty cool but I suspect the owners are going to take it in the shorts on this one. Thats tough.

  11. Well yesterday I drove my Ford COE out on the Highway to go for an engineers inspection, about 70km each way drive, glad to say my COE p***ed inspection, I am now $1200 poorer and have to wait about three weeks for the paperwork to come through, it is just something us Aussies have to do to be able to legally drive on the road, after 11 years I am finally there
The only that I have to is fit clearance lights on the bed, that has now been done, here is a photo of the engineer bringing my truck back after doing the brake test.

Congratulations Bill! You did a fantastic job. I'm looking forward to seeing it with the camper finished and loaded up.

  21. Thanks guys
I find it very funny to see two guys trying to work out what I am doing next when I don't know myself, first thing is to fix the leak in the front of the Trans, then make it run a bit cooler, then do the interior and probably a few other jobs I haven't even thought of, some of you guys will know what I am talking about, then when everything is working the way it should I will work on the Camper, my wife has already picked out floor and cupboard colour schemes, all in good time.

$293,000 in receipts and another project at the same shop? That shop must LOVE them. Even completed, a person would be lucky to sell it for 1/3 of what's been put into it... It is sad..

  27. I've seen this thing on the net several times over the past couple of years, and was under the impression that the truck was the shop owners toy. It could be many different situations, but seeing that it is a woman giving the Ebay description, A divorce might be involved.
