My dad and I have purchased Roger Lindamoods Color Me Gone 71 Challanger funny car body, and are looking for the chassis. It ended up under his Blue 72 Cuda that was painted like a Challanger. Would appreciate any leads.

Carl Dubow of the Rod Factory was crew chief on that car. He has some pictures of it on his office wall. You might be able to get some info from him on the car.

Yes! Wow, indeed! Good luck, that car was photographed a lot. Thank goodness for the internet and though it's sort of an off topic thing for this board,I bet that if ya keep posted that most would dig it!

In '63 and '64, the "B" body Mopars were given a number designation , 330 and 440. It had nothing to do with engine size, but rather the trim package.; 330 being the "stripper"

If only I had that chassis...I could trade it for a willys!!!! ooops, that is my evil side. Cool buy, and hopefully you can get it back together. I like the car, but that damn ramp back hauler is cool too. Would you make a replica of the truck once ya get the car done!!!? I hadta ask.

Color me Gone is an Iconic Funny and not off topic at all, compared to a lot of the nonsense that goes on!
    Congrats

    That is very cool!!!

Back in '74 or '75, I met Roger Lindamood at the Atlanta Speedshop Dragway in Newton County, Georgia when he was running on the Coca Cola Cavalcade of Funny Cars circuit. He was very open to me and my buddies who were in our late teens and early twenties hanging around where he was set up in the pits. One of my friends, Ricky Hancock, had his Ford F100 pickup there, and Roger's crew chief asked him if he was interested in being the tow truck for Color Me Gone. Well, what do you say, no?

To make a long story short, Color Me Gone made two runs that day (best to my recollection), and each time Ricky drove the truck with the crew chief up front with him, and the rest of us piled in the back. The funny made it's run and we ran down to the end of the track to retrieve it and haul it back to the pits. Made our day.

BTW, that body is in remarkably good condition. Are you planning a tribute car?

In the late 80's I bought one of Rogers old color me gone bodies from a co- worker at Buick in Flint for $50. It had been painted black and someone had started to sand it down. There was the remnants of all the lettering under the black. It was in terrible condition, the nose drooped from a break across the hood at the wheel wells. I was going to mount it on a mud bogger at the time but never got to it. I sold it with a pair of Honda Oddesseys for $650. About a year later a young neighbor had informed me that he had purchased one of the old Color Me Gone chassis'. When he found out I had gotten rid of the body he about***** himself. I tried to follow it down but i guess it's long gone

I guess if I can find the chassis, it would not be a tribute. It would be the real deal. The future plans are to restore the body in hopes of finding the chassis. If I can not locate the original, I have a line on another Logghe chassis of this style. Then I guess it would be a half tribute! This chassis was there first design of the "narrow" style. This style was only run for the 1971 season. It was a solid rear with coil over front. For 1972 they went to a torsion front.

The body did hold up remarkably well over the years due to proper storage. It's a shame someone started to strip the paint.

It's safe till I get to it...

Roger Lindamood lived just down the road from me when I was kid growing up in Warren. Used to see his cars sitting on his hauler in his yard. His yard was bordered by trees and bushes but you could see his current ride over them. I used to drool over his cars but never had the nerve to go investigate more. Should have asked to sweep his shop, be a gofer, whatever. Always rooted for him at the drags from the time he had a super stock. Can I come drool over it now? I love the Ftroop Willys too. Keep us posted on the build.

No it's not. The Corvette was owned by a California lawyer named Keith Martin, and was driven by Phil Lukens who now owns Blairs Speed Shop.

  29. yea about as OT as a Hemi or Mickey Thomson.

I only saw that car run once and I was impressed, I am not easlily impressed. Would love to see it back in action even if I had to pay the boss to let it make a token pass @ MOKAN.
