work with it until you CAN get it to run, seems like a covoluted way to see if a person can get a multicarb setup to work??

Don't forget Offy has spacers to offset a 4 bbl 1/2" so you could get an extra inch between adapters. And Unilite distributor is smaller than Delco or space them up. I did an Olds with inline Holley 4 bbls with the offsets and spacers so the rear carb is over the distributor.

I have seen a car they tried it on and it didn't fit , if you look closely you can see that they
had cut one off the middle carbs . The carbs are not evenly spread out and he was only using 2 carbs .
I know it is no Hemi (I believe it was a Pontiac engine) but now you get an idea .
(And appart from that it was about time someone posted a picture in this tread :D )

If you look closely at them old magazines, nearly all (except for hemi intakes) of the inline 4x2s were actually 2x4 manifolds with adapters.

 don't like the look of that set-up! It would drive me CRAZY if they weren't spaced the same! I'm weird like that though...

well,if it DOES work and then for some reason it goes kapoot,i'd still think it'd be a good back up plan to have 2 four barrels and a linkage in the trunk.if he broke down in the middle of nowhere (and with 94s or 97s that's not unimaginable) he could take the adapters off and bolt on the carbs and go.with a 4x2 intake he'd pretty much be SCREWED! and dont tell me old cars dont work PERFECTLY in the garage and then decide to take a dump on you as soon as you get away from home!
    creepy

 Well Did always think more carbs the better as far as looks go:p ,but even ran a trypower set up with ends block off for MPG and smooth at times;) ,was EZ nuff to open all up for week end fun:D .
Now buck for manifolds was always missing when I was in high school, funny thing is I still working on near the piggy bank size:( . But adapters were cheep back in the 60's and we did some stuff with them they were not designed for. Made from stock 2 barrel carb manifolds, added to adapters/spacers at each end by drilling & taping holes to hold carb mount inplace then added it with JB weld type stuff after all set nice I drill open in to manifold and had a trypower. Point was,I never tryed a four corner deal that way, only because I didn't have 4 carbs, but see no way it could not work. I did see a guy do it fanzyer by milling off top of a stock manifofld and making a alum plate cover nearly all of it,with some home made spacers to get carbs up some,he had 6 twobarrels on it:eek: :p . Well just some pass it on from, The Bat

Marty from NORTHWEST SPEED SHOP has been kicked off the HAMB for making bad deals and selling parts that he didn't have.

Those adapters arent 100$ each, i payed 51$ from Vintage speed, you have to watch his ebay auctions, if you want stuff he has, they sell cheaper on ebay from Charlie himself. 4x2s on a nailhead work, the 4bbls are spaced far rnough apart. My dad has a early weiand intake, and on his at least they do.

  14. yes - this is true, but why buy one you gotta work on if you are going to buy one of these things. Especially if the one with the recessed holes is cheaper. Just a heads up.

maybe you like running your countersink - and I can understand that!

thats what I'm doing at the moment , got a factory dual quad for my DeSoto Hemi , I brought some four barrel to 2 two barrel adapters and they were to close together to work so I have got some Offenhauser cross ram adapters ,I'm thinking about shortening the cross rams to try to make it more streetable .

What if you rotated the adapters 90* to gain clearance for the carbs in the center as well as clearing the distributer? Kind of like mounting holley's sideways on a tunnel ram or blower.

If you're trying for something funtional instead of something odd/"different" looking you probably should make up a plenum box that'll bolt to the 2X4 intake & mount the 4 97s, instead of Y adaptors & such.

Ain't the cross ram adapter itself a big plenum chamber ? Looks are important but not as important as being able to run it on the street . I was worried about petrol puddling under the carb and would the engine have enough vacuum to draw the mixture in on low revs .
