Ok I need some help..I purchased Black Paint but am having serious second thoughts.

While the car will be relatively straight, being arrow straight maybe a bit of a reach.

I am a decent bodyman but this this is a little bent everywhere!!!

I have 10 full days in bondo , more than any car I have ever worked on (Note I did body work as a career for 10 years).

Now some of this is old age, some just being anal , and sone the nature of the shape of this car....but

what do you think of these 2 shades/colors versus Black

 .. You already have the Black pant? There are two enduring Classic Trend sitting Body Styles that for decades have stood the test of time for looks and in Black they are a Heart Breaker; thats a Deuce & 49-51 Merc; you cannot improve on perfection just personalize it to make it your own!

I looked at the 32 parts in La. hard and didn't pull the trigger on them. I'm glad someone had the skills to put that part of a car back together. If it is the same car I'm going to make you sick. He also had a Halibrand rear end and parts for sale at one time. Good Job on the car.

Started working on the doors again ... these are 4 door fronts vs coupe . Beside being slightly taller they are bent out slightly at the top as the body is wider than the coupe.

Once the door to body gaps aligned I welded the seems again to hold them in position

thin coat of bond on the doors, rage to start with . Quantam to finish...

Also cut down the garnish mouldings to fit the shortened door..

began by making a straight cut a few inches down from the top

next i placed the moulding in the door overlapping the moulding to provide a guide for shortening them

next I made the cut ...

well not all pictorials are spot on..I cut in the wrong place (you can see it to the right and ran int the corner piece. At least i realized it before it was all the way through...

Had to drill out the spot welds on the corner piece to get the moulding straight

then welded it up

..bought a jeg's intake on sale ...88.00 it was miss-cast and needed to be cut down to clear the valve covers..ill be running a Holley

Exhaust were 63 corvette knock off's that i cut the brackets off of

blasted the both manifolds so the evidence would disappear ..then coated with VHT manifold paint

So here's what the motor will look like

Does anyone have the correct measurement for qtr window wood? I need the distance from the window opening the the outside of the wood.

I am questioning the distance mine appears to be which is 1 3/8.

Is the upper wood flush with the qtr wood my is not and I think it is suppose to be.

I appears that they should be flush, mine is +or- 1/16 in spots. But, if you were put together with wood screws and small brad nails fastened to tin for 70 years on bumpy roads, you would be a little "OFF" too. IS there a chance the repo wood kit may have different thicknesses?

appears the curve is wrong on the top board, at least for my car. Interesting this is that the issue is more pronounced on one side versus the other, and the boards are Identical.

I will install the qtr window wood and trim the upper to fit. I don't see any other solution.

Spent time today on my dash, kinda tired of the bond work.

Needed to cut holes for the dash insert and figure out a way to hold the insert.

Not the prettiest, but I used a modified conduit clamp.

Thought I had a couple more shots of the process, sorry.

Measured and drilled the holes with Morse cobalt hole saws.

Going with SW wings gauges mounting two under the dash.

Just looked through this entire thread,don't know how I missed this, let me just say you my friend are suoer talented, your skills in metal fabrication are superior. To think you doubted your self. Their should have been no question in your mind. Absolutely fantastic work, keep up the progress can't wait to see this car completed.

HOLY CRAP !! I just went thru all 38 pages and dam Mike, your a true master of working with and sculpting sheet metal, and your attention to detail and willingness to go so far above and beyond to make this right astounds me..! You should be extremely proud of the car your building, its an absolute work of art..!
