Not Saoutchik's finest hour. The great coachbuilders really struggled with the snub-nosed, short-wheelbase post-war ch***is. I think Graber were of the first to subdue the type, and come up with a workable new idiom.
So, you're telling me that that car is based on a Barracuda, not a '53ish Studebaker Starlite coupe? I'm not buyin' it. Look at the B-pillars, the tail lights, the door scallops. Hell, even the number isn't Poteets (#282).
Right. For some reason, when I wrote the Barracuda comment, the Stude picture wasn't showing up, so I didn't understand the reference. #282 is a Barracuda, #9913 is a Stude, as you correctly identified it.
The Cadillac roadster is truly incredible. I know that a few years ago a couple of fresh Cadillac bodies (1 roadster and 1 dual-cowl phaeton) were built newly from designs that were done long ago but never built; I think Dave Holls and/or Strother MacMinn may have been involved in them. Do you know if this is one of those, or if it's actually a 1934 build? Edit: I googled "Cadillac dual-cowl phaeton" and found this, with identical detailing and photo background. Seems pretty likely that they're the recent builds that I was thinking of from maybe 10 years ago. It certainly doesn't matter to me when they were done. They're both *****in' and extra swoopy!
Speaking of Talbot Lago Teardrops (and a number of folks here have) I had the pleasure of seeing one of these rare beauties in the flesh (so to speak) at the 100 Cars of Radnor Hunt Concours about a month ago. And I had my camera handy. I posted some of the better shots on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/101519646@N07/sets/72157635454588028/ The images are available in a variety of sizes including the original resolution which is far too large for use here. Here are a few samples in a smaller size.
The above article says "one of a kind", but here's another. http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/ch***isNum.aspx?carid=10282&idNumID=15006
Wow. I guess somebody liked the cream one well enough to have it duplicated, or the green is a repaint of the cream car. Details appear identical except for wheel trim rings on the green car.
