    Here is my latest A.
I have been fooling with Bangers for awhile and really have no experience with Flatheads and later transmissions, this one is a real treat to drive.

This car was bought at the very end of May as a project. The older man it came from had been collecting and buying parts, having stuff rebuilt, etc. for about the last 8 years. He previously had a hot rod shop in Southern Oregon. He fell ill and put it on CL. A friend of mine ******ed it up to flip right off the bat, and when I went and looked at it the next day, I owned it.

He had all the parts except for brake lines, hose clamps, motor mount bisquits, etc. I mean tires, wheels, caps, all the motor parts, door handles, restored guage cluster, plates, everything! I spent less than $1000 on parts and paint and I don't think any of the parts where over $75 individually. I had an upholstered seat I robbed from my Coupe.

It was heading into my busy time of the year workwise so my Great Friend Elmitcheristo was the guy to ****on it up. Mitch put about 200 hours into tearing it down, and building it up, brake lines, wiring, pedal fitmant, floors, etc.

We went with Washington Blue and added black, then more black, then a ton more black to darken it. The frame and grill shell are gloss, body is satin.

I have all the reciepts for anything and everything he bought for the car. The body came from Vern Tardell, he is friends with Shine's dad, so he had Jimmy himself weld up the So Cal Frame.

The motor is a 1940 that has been rebuilt and taken to 239 Cubes, running a repop intake with original 97's. And has NOS Denver Aluminum Heads, camshaft is Isky. Trans is a 39 and the rear is also a 1940. Has early Ford brakes.

For now, all I am doing is driving it and waiting for the rings to seat and at some point I may chop the windscreen a couple inches, and lean it back. And find a 4 spoke Bell wheel. I also need to give it the 3wLarry treatment and put a couple springs in the rear to get the "fist" height right, needs to come up about 2 1/2 inches.

The only real detraction as far as being truly period is electric fan and the generator / alternator deal. However the fan came as a kit with the Walker radiator and it really moves some air. Those can be changed later if I want.

The pedals are on a bracket bolted to the transmission.
It appeared really nice to be "home made". But neither Mitch or I have seen that.

It worked really well after some tweaking to properly clear the column.

Very rigid and A pedals are still relatively cheap compared to the other options.

I think guys should look into it if they don't have a stash of the other Ford pedals

Pedal mount looks very similar to the one used in a 39 trans to banger kit.

    Cool car!

Sweet ride. The chop and windshield pull back will really add to the looks. My son and I built one this spring but I could not find a good flat head so I went with a 1963 289 ford and a 3 speeed. I am pleased with that combination...like you it is all old school with a Schroder steering.

with the floorboards lifted, the mystery is revealed! i was thinking the same thing. it is a simple and clever, and probably cheap, solution.

    neat car.

Fist height right is what? The amount of space from the top of the tire to the top of the rear wheel opening?

I thought you guys would like that reference!

The car is awesome. I have almost all the parts to put my A Coupe body on a gennie '32 frame, flathead, complete drivetrain. Just need to sock up the dough for a radiator.

With only a few days of driving it, its really lit a fire to work on the other one.

What an awesome roadster! Like you had mentioned, slight windshield chop and lean-back would look great....

The pedals did require ALOT of modification to clear the steering column and bell housing. It is definitely an option and was nice because I didn't have to modify the frame to mount pedals. The clutch linkage couldn't have been easier. The brake, on the other hand, took some head scratching.

Chop that Windshield and lean it back. Mine is chopped 4 1/4 inches. You could also look around for some adjustable windshield stanchions. I found some and chopped them up for my windshield.
