Going to check off another item from my bucket list and go next June. I'll be flying in and if there is anything special I need to know about hotels or getting around I'd love to hear from you. I do not plan on having a car so nearby hotels are my best option.
    Thanks

Thanks. If this is part of my bucket list i guess I should not worry about the prices.

Motel 6, San Dimas. Close to the fairgrounds, way cheaper.

EDIT: not close enough to walk though. Rent a corolla for $30 with the money you save from the Sheraton.

Twitchy maybe he don't like him or has an interest in motel6.
If he is going to rent a car there are a whole lot of better motels than a 6.

I have stayed at both the Red roof and the Holiday Inn Express in San Dimas. The red roof was because our group " The Great Greybeard Adventure" booked a dozen rooms there. The year before the wife and i wanted the luxury of the Holiday Inn. both are minutes from the fairgrounds and have good food within walking distance. The area is really beautiful and safe. Plan on the whole week if you are fulfilling your bucket list. Most area car shops have open houses and stuff going on.
Make sure you check out free museum and collection at "Justice Brothers" they have a ton of race cars, street rods and racing collectables.
get rested up, you will enjoy the trip!

You may want to consider a rental car anyway so you hit some of the local speed shop open houses.

Some good tips, thanks. Renting a car is fine but how is getting around there traffic-wise. Where I live 8 cars constitute a traffic jam!!

I flew into Ontario and rented a car. It is only about 8 or 9 miles from the fairplex and the traffic is not that bad. LAX airport is a pain in the butt! I did Mooneyes,Limeworks,Justice Bros, NHRA museum and the open houses at Waldens and Socal are on friday. Just remember a GPS is your best friend. Be prepared to walk a lot.
