    Hi,

I need a bit of help from some of our Australian members who are flathead freaks. I've got 2 flathead mystery manifolds. Mike Russell feels that the 59 AB manifold is Australian. It's obviously a copy of an Edelbrock Super, except it has 3 fins on the nose. A bunch of US collectors have looked at the V8 60 intake and everybody has drawn a blank. Any help????

    Thanks,

  3. I can only go on what I've been told. These are a copy of the Edelbrock Super dual made by SPECO (if my memory serves me correctly). I run one on my roadster. But I don't have much info on them sorry. If you pm flatoz on here he's bound to know.

Here's mine prior to fitting, it was polished along time ago.

The centre fin has been removed and a hole drilled for the breather. Which is how it was when I got it.

Thanks Devilrod. I have contacted him as you advised. It's definitely the same manifold as yours. The fins and the 4 tall mounting bosses are the only clear difference from the Edelbrock Super.

I would agree with Devilrod, it looks to be a SPECO intake to me. The V8-60 I'm not sure on, but to be honest, 60's weren't big here at all, not like the US, I haven't really seen any speed equipment for them here, most of the boats ran full sized flatheads so most of the speed equipment was for those motors, or Y blocks. I'm not saying no one made stuff at all, but I can't remember seeing an Aussie intake or heads for a 60 motor and I keep a close eye on whats on the market down here.

One thing that was normal for Aussie equipment, was to have no name on it. Quite a few manufacturers didn't bother with their names on stuff. I think these were the little guys who only got small runs done. Another common thing was to use one pattern and rebadge it as various peoples intakes.

A bit like Fenton did as in D & S and Esser etc intakes all looking the same.

    sorry, haven't been much help.
