Hey fellas hows it going up there.

Im hunting for some patch panels for my 50 coupe and ive come across both Dennis Carpenter and EMS. Im after patches for the rockers and lower rear quarters. The ones from dennis carpenter look like theyve forgotten about the seam just forward of B pillar but im only judging that from drawn pics on their web site. The ones from EMS look more like the originals but again im only taking that from the pics. Hava any HAMBers used and fitted these panels? What was the quality and how did they fit? Is there any other companies that produce shoebox patches and if youve used panels from EMS what was the pricing like? The reason I ask after pricing is they only quote via fax and I dont have one:)
    cheers for any help
    Andy.

Good luck man! I tried to buy panels from Dennis C, and EMS for about 6 months. I was finally told that all the rocker panels "known to man" are made by 2 different shops. Apparently one company makes a very good reproduction and the other makes something that is basically meant to weld over a rusted panel. The prices between the two are drastic, but it doesn't matter cause you can't buy them anyway. I finally ended up buying a set off Ebay. If you can get them, Dennis C will be very reasonable and EMS will be sky high. Obviously, I have never used either.

Damn....looks like the harder option of making the patches. Sounds like this ems crowd is pretty dodgy. I actually found an article before written in a rodding mag where they did a tech on installing these patches and reconded they were the ****. ****** propoganda (sp)

ask FiddyFour... his car has patches on it and they look like they are high quality and fit very nice.

  6. Hey Andy! Making yer own might be the kiwi way of doing it. I've just fitted one of the two rocker panels I had folded up, fits fine, and cost me a dozen Tui. Even if you paid a sheetmetal shop to do the job, it will probably cost less than importing them. cheers man.

Sorry for posting without doing an intro first, but I bear a grudge against EMS after buying panels for my shoebox. The fit on the rockers was horrible, the overall quality was poor. The price was outragous for what I got. Its been a while since I tried installing them, so I can't remember the details about what was wrong with them. Killed all the momentum on my build.

On the plus side, their shipping was fast.

Now returning to my regularly scheduled lurking........
