as you get older you see how stupid you were...i owned a 65 with a 409, got it off my dads lot in early 70's,everyone said "man it would be a nicer car if you got rid of that old truck engine",haha, anyhow a big block later and thrashed the car i sold it and moved on, not really thinking about what the car meant to history, how few they made with the old engine,
I liked the car the way it was...lol...I would have liked to see it more restored if it was me...But as usual Chip did an outstanding job on the car.....The motor was off da hook! Did you see the T-Bird one too??...I thought that was pretty kool...Esp cause the guy was soo touched by it....the big softy...lolol
BOth cars they did last night was awesome. I loved the reaction of the T-Bird guy! On the 409, wasn't those 6 carbs those Moon carb look alike fuel injection pieces?
Yes they were the injection set up. I am so shocked, no anti Gas Monkey comments...you guys are falling down on the job (Maybe that crap can die now...you can't even tell it was a horse now it is so beaten) The main Gas Monkey himself was telling me how cool it was when Chip did the drawing for the kid in the wheel chair upside down so the kid could watch him...Chip is a class act in my book...I thought that was amazing.
What was the Gas Monkey guys' contribution to the build? I watched the whole thing, but didn't hear any mention of Gas Monkey Garage until the end when the host gave them a big shout-out.
Chip and Richard talked at a bunch of shows and became friends. Chip invited him out to do overhaulin. He took 2 guys (Aaron and Austin)with him. They did alot of the suspension work because apparantly the hotchkis kid didn't know his stuff. They will be doing the sema build too. Im not doing the sema build but i am flying out and staying with them. Hopefully that clears it all up but Im probably throwin myself to the wolves on this one. -b
I thought the T~bird owner was cool as hell.lot of love for pop's.alot of us can understand that.the 65 was bad ass 2. I liked that the boy let dad have the first spin after it was done.I could not do a show like that.I have a car that my dad and mom gave me 15 years ago.if I thought someone stole it I'd go to jail for killing someone before the end of the week,lol..If I did make it til show time I'd have a heart attack or cry so much they would have to stop the show..be nice wouldn't it.
That 65 was one of my favorite episodes of that show. They kept the motor and re-built it--they kept the body lines intact on an amazing car--didn't 2-tone it and went back original in the interior. I saw them bringing in an original 409 and almost cried thinking what they were going to do to it, then cheered out loud when they said they were going to keep it. I know a high roller would differ from me, but loosing the 409 in a 409 would be worse than loosing the hemi in a hemicuda.
