I get it, rebuild your truck with 6 frame rails instead of just 2, then you can drill lots of 2" holes.....you just have to spread out the load!

Or belled, depending on terminology. Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that "Voodoo" doesnt get it.

I got lightening holes in my boxers...;) But they arent belled. Am I risking catastrophic structural failure?

Why the hell would you bother messing with your chassis just to mount a fuel tank filler tube?????

Just because we can, doesn't mean we should???

Now looky there. Doesn't seem so difficult, now does it? Not sure why so many are opposed to such reinforcements. But whatever.

  17. Hey, let's start another shit storm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks to me like a gas tank filler pipe, not an exhaust pipe. (note the tank right behind the frame member)

Edit; also note the rubber hose connected to it.

I don't know what to tell you about the strength of the frame with a hole in it, but as an EE I can tell you that it will effect the impedance of the frame!

Good thread. If it were me I would reinforce it and never think of it again. I agree with those who say it doesn't need it

I think I have the answer!!!! and it doesnt involve selling the truck...and will end this most stressful of threads!

install an electric motor!..thereby removing the need for a petrol filler tube. SIMPLE!:p

  22. Yes it is. My comment about a shit storm was about the previous posters comment about hoses next to an exhaust pipe. It isn't exhaust pipe, it is a gas tank filler pipe.
