    ]hey guys and gals i just picked up a 1951 ford f100 out of an old horsefield and someone along they way pulled the flathead and stuck a gm motor in it that i can't figure out what is. heres some pics.

    Its a Pontiac pre 1960...

    It's a Pontiac V8 - unsure of year, but that carb was used from about 56 to 62 or whenever the AFB style 4bbls came out.

    It has the reverse cooling so its 1959 and earlier...check the block for casting numbers if you want to be specific....but youre in the ballpark now..

    Damn...must be nice to find a vehicle that's been stored outside with relatively little rust...in the northeast, that truck would have been rusted to pieces...

    just ran the numbers its a 1955 pontiac 287 bolted to an automatic thats using a ujoint for a shifter lol. turned the motor with a breaker bar and it turns freely. thanks for all the initial leads everyone

    yeah barsteel i was told it was parked in 1996. it has rust in the cab corners and fenders but its nothing "major".

    That is why I left Connecticut for California. My 1960 Falcon, built about an hour from where I live, just has minor surface rust, just from paint failure. No rust through, anywhere.
