Truck rear

    Another of my 46 ford pickup questions. What is the *wheel mating surface* wms to wms of the 46 pickup ..what 9" ford rear would fit close to the same width?

    Deuce Roadster posted that the 46 Ford truck is 60" measured from wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange.

    As I recall he used a explorer rear axle. HRP

    If a 46 rear is the same as a 48 then a 1/2 ton trucks rear up to 72 will be correct width.

    Actually a 1957 to 1972 F100 is 61 1/4" which is only slightly wider. HRP

    Here is a pic with dimentions of all years, the later bnanjos are 61" not 60. Many 9" rears measure 61 1/4" so finding one shouldn't be a problem. Enlarge the pic, than double click it to enlarge more.

    42-47 Pickup open drive rears are the same width as the 42-48 closed drive P***enger rears and use the same axles, brakes, etc.
