Howdy. I'm currently looking at a couple of old used Winfield cams and am wondering if anyone knows what these stampings mean on the end. They're both SU-1A cams but one says "SU-1A2" and the other says "SU-1Ann".

Any ideas? I've never seen anything like this before on original Winfield cams.

    Thanks much.

Mr. Winfield made several SU-1A's, 1, 2, 3 etc. I do not know how many. I remember speaking with Dema Elgin some years ago and he indicated that Mr. Winfield would make them longer and taller if someone requested, hence the number succession. You might call Elgin Cams and talk to Dema, he knows a lot about Winfield cams.

Ed Winfield mentored Dema Elgin and was a close friend - Dema gave Ed's eulogy at his funeral. Dema has one or more of Ed's grinding machines and many of his masters. There is probably no one better suited to answer questions about Ed's cams.
