Every kid that has stoped by looking for a job from that place wants $20 a hour and has not known shit. I 'm total cool with paying some one good but you better have some experance.
I pay by what some one can do. Not how much they spent on school. I'm totaly happy that WyoTech is in Sacramento I have freinds that are teachers and students there. But I will not pay for any kids School except for my own. I havent met the person I would pay over $10.a hour with no shop experance to start. But I not against it I just havent seen it yet.
    thanks for your help Scott

I agree, when we were looking, EVERY person out of WYO "god do I have to deal with idiots" tech could replicate stuff they actually did in class, but had ZERO adaptation skills. And because they paid a fortune to go there, they figured they were golden.

  8. Check out your local Vo-tech. Drive a hot rod up and see who knows what it is. Get a young one and train him/her the way you want them. I've got a couple that are true gear heads the others will work at Jippy Lube. Just my $0.02.

We have done that. Many times they are willing to apprentice just for the idea of "doing it" rather then "watching it" on tv.

Ya I have one kid that has been with me for about 8 months. He was a painters helper at a bussy body shop. Couldn't weld never did any type of fab work but, he realy wanted to learn. He kicks ass now, air bags, patch pannels,I have him spray primer. He dose it all. I would love to hire anouther kid just like him.
But I also had a guy that worked for me for a while(who is now a teacher at Wyo tec) I could just tell him to put a 4 bar in and by the end of the day it was done. So Guess it just depends on the person. I just figured this was a quick way to tell some people who get it . That there was a job opening. Thanks Scott

Ahhh if only I could wind back the clock to when you advertised...and I think a green card would have also helped:D says 5yr mechanic with certificate in electronics, and also welding, paint, fibreglass, bodywork and upholstery skills on classic cars. And a crazy hotrod lifestyle to siut.

Lots of Hotrod shops all up and down the coast from Vancouver BC to San Diego Ca. Lots around Seattle, Portland, Sacremento, San Francisco bay area, the LA basin, not to mention cities farther inland in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado and it seems like every podunk little town in between all these places. If you really think you want to live here for a while, start finding out where the larger shops are and sending out resume's. I should think anyone with skill, tallent, and the ability to think your way through any given problem to a logical solution would be courted by any number of potential employers if they find out you're out there. If you can think "outside the box", even more so. The more verifiable experience you can show these guys, the more moola you could ask to start, just like anything else. That said, anywhere in California, especially LA and the bay area are horrendously expensive to live in and you will have to decide if the things they offer are worth the extra cost to live there. Steve's Auto Restorations in Portland and Roy Brisio's in S. San Francisco are two of the biggest and most well known and probably good people to check with just starting out. As for as immigration, who knows, it's always worth a shot. Probably stand a better chance if you were coming from below our southern border illegally, but my thoughts on that are better left unsaid.
