Just got my 37 Nash gas tank refurbished. I need to seal the sending unit and there is not a replacement gasket available. I will need to make a gasket. I know cork is resistant to gas, but can I use it to seal? I'm afraid it may breathe too much...??? Suggestions?

use HYLOMAR on the gasket. Every sender I pull out has gooey permatex all over it. The permatex can come loose and clog up your fuel system while the hylomar is fuel proof. It does not harden either.

Buy a roll of rubberized gasket material and make your own . Mr gasket makes one that is made for gas and oil . I don't use any type of sealant only a gasket .

I've used tank sloshing sealer with good luck. Put it together wet with some on the screw threads, too.

This. You'll thank yourself later when you need to replace the sender in the future.
