Have a 1970's sbc 307 installed in my 1923 roadster there are 3 Rochester 2G's installed. Have a hesitation coming off idle that I can't seem to adjust out. The carbs have just been completely rebuilt/restored with the proper jets installed, so says the rebuilder. The timing seems to be right on. I'm getting a slight popping on the right side when advancing to throttle as well as the hesitation. I can also hear a slight "air noise" coming from the right side valve cover breather. I don't know what that is but it isn't coming from the left side cylinders. The mixture adjustments seem to have no effect on the hesitation. I think I may have a intake valve hanging up or a lifter not working correctly. There is no lifter or valve noise. The engine runs strong when you get past this little hesitation spot. Any ideas would be most appreciated. I don't want to take apart the top end again if I don't have to. r
If you do not have the correct base plates, the carbs will cause you problems. Your carbs shouldn't have idle circuits in the front and rear carbs thus only idiling off of the middle carb. We have a 27 roadster with a 283 and 3 2Gs, it doesn't have the correct base plates and no matter how much tuning we do we cannot get hesitation out. If this is part of your problem with yours, correct base plates are available as a kit through speedway.
