Like the ***le says, I'm wanting to build a 292 for my 62 Uni but I don't know much about these motors other then I like 'em cause they're different. Just wondering if there are any perculiarities which I'm sure there are, about these motors for me to look out for. Not gonna build a real thumper, probably just a nice 292 with maybe a 3 deuce setup and MAYBE a T-5 5 speed. Thanks for any and all help and info.

Don't line up the cam and crank gear marks like a SBF or scrub motor, 12 link pins between them, will be closer to 3 o`clock on each mark..
Like above, http://www.y-blocksforever.com/ is my favorite Y block site.

I used to build a few 312's. be sure to use the 312 heads, and the high ratio rocker arms. I can put big valves in the heads if you want. The 312 heads flowed better than the 283 chevy power packs. i could easily whip any 283 around with my 292, 1956 cheap hardtop with a 4.11 rear and overdrive. had 2x4's(factory), a Mallory dual point, and duals. Have fun.Henry

Here's the link to the common ***embly errors compiled by John Mummert. The only one I'll add to the list is watch out for too long of a 5/16-18 bolt attaching the oil pump through the block as if too long, it can break into the oil pump housing.
