Hi, Posting this for a friend: " Hey guys, worth a shot to get more eyes watching for a somewhat unique vintage car, especially any of you around Texas. This was a fairly complete matching #s project car that my dad found and I bought years ago, never had time and money at the same time. I had moved it to our remote family ranch about a year ago, stashed deep back in a barn, covered completely with tarps surrounded by plywood with more stuff put in on top and in front ... in other words, it was very well hidden. It was taken from the Bertram / Liberty Hill area of central Texas sometime between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. Someone cut the lock (not the chain???) on the entry gate, pulled down to the barn (~400 yards barely visible from highway), pulled barn gate open, moved everything from out of front/off the car and tarps drug to the back. They either had to drag or winch the car out of the barn on flat front tires (drag marks indicate) and load (trailer or tow truck). A report has been given to the Burnet County TX Sheriff's Department and Central Texas Auto Task Force along with pictures and VIN. If any of you see or have seen (trailered) this car, please contact me here or the Burnet County TX Sherriff's dept. It is fairly unique being yellow with a silver insert, missing the grill and one headlight. Thanks for any help you might can provide on location or direction it might be heading. Any leads, send to myvetw***tolen@yahoo.com which will be forwarded on to the above mentioned authorities. Thanks for your help!" Regards, fficeffice" /><O></O>
Damn that ****s. Wishing you the best in getting that one back. Sounds like somebody talked to somebody who thought that's an easy take. Theifs should be treated like they treated horse thieves in years past. Had a trail bike stolen once so I have a bit of an idea what you are feeling. Oh I got it all back, the punk had taken the motor out & ditched the rest in a field. Funny thing I heard it go by the house & said damn that is my motor. Chased him down & checked the ser # But motor & frame have different numbers so let him go. He finally got caught tho & spent some time. I also had a 55 vette stolen & recovered back in the 50s. All the got that punk for was joy ridding. Lucky me he had damaged the vette. Hope you get it back. Will keep my eyes open in Az
THIEVES need to be hung from the highest tree by their TESTICLES!! Sure is a dang shame when a man can't keep his vehicle under lock and key on his own property! Good Luck with the hunt hope it all turns out well for you!
Figure out who knew the car was there... If you are sure the barn was secure from kids, etc. getting in prior to this, someone knew you put the car in there.... I have nephew in the Austin area, he is involved in the car scene (what there is of it) down there, and have him keep his eyes open.... This ****s, I've had similar things stolen and it ALWAYS ****s... Tom
All it takes is one offhand comment to someone, or it was seen being stashed. How many people knew about it? Bob
Was this an old barn that looked abandoned? If so, could be guys exploring that figured they came upon an old abandoned barn with the fabled corvette.
The balls of some people. You would have had every right to blast them out of their shoes had you come upon them, and they still cut your lock, and drove through your property. That couldnt have been all that quick either. Hope this one turns out good, and hope someone gets there *** beat...
I am leaving Wacko ..... Excuse me - Waco - this morning for Austin I will keep an eye out for this: Jim
Nice looking ride, hope you find it. Just a little tip......having the car hidden from sight also means the thieves are hidden from sight. I have neighbors who live off the beaten path out here in the sticks in beatiful settings and they are the ones the thieves hit.
That's what happened when my house was hit in 2002. I'm a bit remote with no very close neighbors. The only thing they didn't take was my wife's Xmas gift ring that was being sized at the jeweler. Bob
So sorry to hear of this. In one week I will be driving from California to Georgia and back again--I'll be on the lookout! I'd like to bring that Corvette back to you along with the heads of the dirty s***, ****roach, parasitic human waste that stole your car!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear they shoot thieves on ranches in Texas.... the guys who stole this car have a death wish. Good luck finding it, hopefully in one piece.
I'm in Central / DT Austin. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Sorry about your loss, gorgeous car. Hope this doesn't become a trend now that so many people are moving into town.
Hi all, Thanks for keeping a eye out and hopefully my friend will get his car back and the thieves get what they deserve Thanks again,
