  4. The gliders were used in the allied invasion of Europe during and after D-day. They were ill conceived, and the hedge rows of the invasion point proved to be a fatal problem for several occupants of the gliders unlucky enough to get tangled up in them at landing. IIRC, the British had a bit better luck with theirs.

But wasn't that also during the days of "payola". Record exec's could practically buy their stars place on the charts by paying radio DJ's to have certain songs played. Not saying it happened in every case, but it did happen.

If somebody beats me to this, my apologies.

The bomb bay fuel tank was hit and caught fire, the fire ran through the fuel system and caused the aircraft to explode. The upper bomb bay tank was a removable field mod and was susceptible to gunfire as it had no self-sealing bladder

What you see on the wing is the self-sealing fuel tank rubber from the wing tanks that the blaze has turned to liquid and being vented out of the control surfaces/flap openings.

It was good. It's actually too bad there isn't that parallel today

I can (and do) like "Wild Thing"(I think I love you, but IIII don't know for sure...) as well as Everybody Loves Somebody...Also, Dean Martin had a pretty popular variety show on TV at that time. It was popular for all ages too.

The center looks pretty much the same today. Just replace the cars with more modern ones, add a Subway and a couple of other shops, and you are there. My sister lived there until recently.

The shot of MSA Motors finally brought me out of the woodwork! I spent the first 18 years of my working career in that building (most of 60 years in Abbotsford/Mission area) Some of the pix are from before my time but recognizable. Buy me a beer and I'll tell you some history. Bowtie, you're not bad for a Chevy guy.

And the same thing happens today. Been there and done that, fairly recently. Today you just have a middleman between the payer and the payee.
