How about an update on your truck?

And did I tell you I found a yard with possible parts if you need them?

    Let me know...

Gracie -- I'll post some update info and pics this weekend, and thanks for caring!

Thanks too for the heads-up on the yard. Where is it? Am I going to have to come to Sin City just to get some F-1 parts? Well, that doesn't sound so bad.

F-1s and early F-100s are a very special disease. Let just one into your life and you're lost. From that point on, you'll want to rescue every one of them you encounter.

There's an F-1 in the HAMB classifieds right now that I should have. I want it so much it makes my hair ache! It wants to be a Bonneville XF/PP record holder, and I know it can be . . .

Do you see how bad it can get?

Anyway, words and pics to come.

My daily-driver F-1 is just fine, got all the pieces I need for the serious upgrades -- T5, stroker crank, bitchin' trick-grind camshaft, electonic igniter, largish 2-bbl mixer.

It's important to understand that F-1 and early F-100 ownership involves a minimum of two vehicles at any given time. Of course this dictates a that there be a substantial parts inventory to support the basic vehicle count.

It's very simple and easy to understand. And I appreciate all leads and connections to F-1 parts.

    TIA

I'm really overdue on gettin back to you, Gracie, and I apologize for that. Nothing done on the F-1 so's you could tell by looking at it. I took a couple of shots this evening and as you can see the front is still at stock "nosebleed" height.

The recent big news is under the metal -- an all-new electrical system designed and built by my friend Terry Griffith. It's all 12 volts of course, with a single-wire alternator that supports a GM HEI that makes the flatty run as smooth as a modern jiggler motor.

My pal Fuller is going to help me install the T5 and the springs in the next couple of weeks, so it will start looking different as well as having some serious cruising legs.

The real (as opposed to Photoshop) signage will also come together in another couple of weeks.

I also have a new stainless rear bumper in the works. I just have to finish the ends and the brackets and then polish and install it.

No time to finish the new motor before Speed Week, but the original is gonna do just fine with the T5 in place.

My F-1 is a long-term work-in-progress hot rod that provides me with countless short-term goals -- an endless string of attaboys that puts a smile on my face at the start of each day.

That is such a nice truck. And the Speed shop logo looks perfect. Thanks for the update. So what new and exciting at Tardells place.

Hey! I need a grille chin piece for my F-1. That's the piece of tin under the grille that connects the fenders.
    Anybody got a good one?

Am I the only person in the world that doesn't like a lowered truck? Trucks are supposed to be high... so you can haul things... I mean I definitely appreciate a lowered truck, as long as its not scraping... but tall trucks are my way man.

Yeah, super-low can look neat on some cars and trucks, but there's nothing cool about driving a road scraper in the real world.

I'm looking to drop my F-1 a couple inches in the rear and 4-5 in front so it will have some definite rake. The photoshopped version with the signage has a great look but is a bit too boulevard for my tastes.

    Hi av8,

I am new to HAMB as of a few days ago. I just saw a couple of pictures of your 1948 F-1 and started searching for more info on your truck. I have a 1948 and a 1950 f-1 that I am combining to make one. I have to say yours is the nicest one I have ever seen. Just wondered if you could give an update and more specific info on your project? You have chosen the perfect color for that truck.

    Thanks for any help, flashback
