P&J brake & clutch pedals for Model A

Have any of you used these?

I bought a set to use on the 29 coupe that I'm building for a customer and I can't see how they can possibly fit in a Model A with a SBC & 4 speed.

The brake pedal is so far to the right, that it will hit the bell housing when the pedal is pushed down. If I move it back far enough to prevent that, the pedals will be up against the seat.

What am I missing here?

 

I have their setup in mine, but....I'm running a '32 ch***is.

 

I had the same problem. I ended up going with a unit that fits under the dash, it has worked out pretty good.

 

it would be best to build your own mount,and use their pedals.pluse the mount is not the best looking piece.

Does any one have pictures of this on their ride I am almost to the point on my chasis where I need this setup.

 

Ive got areal tight spot on the roadster that I had to squeeze them in but opted to rebuild the pedals so they step to the left then follow the contour of the frame and then return to their original orientation with a jog back to the right above the floor and attatched the pedals now without hitting anything. Kept the ratio in check also. Will not be using the external cylinder instead a hydraulic throw out bearing in its place from wilcap.pics later tonight.

 

I had this setup in a 1930 model a with a sbc and a 4-speed. I use a slightly smaller stock mastercylinder that I had laying around. It worked great.

 

around 42" back from crossmember..
I've done 7-8 and fit fine..
tweak the pedal itself a little to clear?
Big bellhousing?

 

42" measuring from what point on the crossmember to what point on the bracket?

It's a stock cast iron GM bellhousing.

I'd have to tweak the pedal a LOT to clear. It's 2.75" to the right of the left side of the head.

 

I'm going by memory.42" from front crossmember centerline to the pedal pivot centerline.
I'll look thru my files and see if I have a picture..

That would put these pedals 2" behind the front door jamb or right in the door opening.

I don't have any pictures yet of this part yet. I'll shoot some tomorrow.

So far all I've done is got the whole mess media blasted and made engine and transmission mounts.

 

42" is close,
the pedals point forward and follow the angle of the toe board.
And poke thru near the top of the toe board.

 

ahh,i can only find a pic of my double Z frame with just the brake pedal...

ive got the same pedals in mine. 29 A SBC with a Muncie. its tight but it fits. cut the pedal arms down a little but thats all i had to do.

 

I know the is an old thread.

I'm in the same boat. I'm planning to straighten the brake arm and dog leg the clutch to the left.

But what did you end up doing?

 

I ended up throwing the whole mess on the shelf and fabricating new stuff that fits right.

I'll dig up some pictures when I'm back in the shop vector week.

I've used 100's of various P&J pedal ***emblies over the years and their could have been a little more forethought put into pedal shapes. wdglide did what I've had to do many times.

 

Here's the new pedal(s) that I made compared to the P&J piece. Mine only requires a small hole in the toe board rather than a big slot all the way into the floor.
