Features 57-60 ford truck pics????

Here is my 1957 Ford F100 truck, pictures from a magazine called V8 Passion, my truck has been an article of interest because of its rarity and its low mileage, original and restored with an odometer that shows 6200 miles and the original warranty certificate of the first 1000 miles that has never been used.
I do anvirons 1500 miles per year and especially in the Eastern Townships in Quebec

 

I had scored the factory "fomoco" spotlights for my 60 with original mounting template. Pretty hard to come by with all original parts.

 

A few updated pics, slowly making progress on the 1/2 ton conversion...

 

Great looking truck with the Salt Flat wheels. What exactly is involved to change a '58 into a '57? Just fenders or do you have to swap inner fenders, core support? Other?

 

Just the grill.

 

Wow, I expected it to be a lot more work than that. I've always loved the single more than the four eye look. Just my $.02.

 

To have it look totally like a 57 you'd need to change the hood side badges as well, but everything else is visually the same.

(also, to make the ¢ symbol hold down Alt while typing 0162 then release )

 

Dan what sizes rims and tires are on your truck?

 

I had no idea that was possible, thanks. I'm afflicted with "lame-old-dude" disease! lol.

They're 15x7's with 235/75 Hankook tires - traditional Hankooks, of course, ha ha!

I wanted 70 series tires like the cool kids had in high school but ran into new takeoffs from an F150 that had been sitting in someone's garage for a few years. Bought all 4 for $60. Hard to argue with that!

EDIT: Oh, I just realized you're probably not asking me. My truck is a '55 Chevy, not the '57 Ford.

I have a 59 stepside and I was wondering where I could find new gauges that fit in the old gauge cluster. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

 

Ford C-Series will fit right to the end of their production without much hassle, they used the same gauges early on and they just evolved as the truck line was continued.

 

Could you elaborate on that a little? What is a Ford C-series, what year were they produced, etc.,. Pardon my ignorance.

So the Ford C-series was from 57 till I think 94, they ran the same gauges as the 57-60 Ford trucks and those gauges evolved as the truck was built over the years, my brother and I have updated old sets with the new parts a few times and also upgraded the old sets with the extra gauges of the C-series dash.



Later trucks have a plastic backed black faced set like this that takes little to make it fit.



Big Ford trucks also had these gauges and their newer versions till the late 70's

Also Econoline gauges are the same. The outside bezel is different but the actual cluster is.

Just bought this. Plan is to get it running and driving and ENJOY it!

Also want to run a 60 grill and hood. What is needed to make possible? Front valence?

Front fenders, valance and grille... If you can get the whole clip it'll make it a bolt in job!

 

I'd say just run a 60 grill with the original 57 clip and hood. A floating dual headlight single bar would look pretty spiffy. Then sell your 57 grill for recouping the cash, everyone seems to like that style better so it is a win/win for you.

I know this is a pic thread, but I need some help with a radiator for my 1957 f100. My truck has no radiator. New ones are very expensive. Any 1 using something besides stock? Thanks Jeff.

58 I picked up 2 weeks ago.

 

Where I found her, in my neighbor's back yard. When I brought her home. In her current state.

 

My daughter put a hole in my radiator the day I brought it home. My neighbor gave me an old radiator he had. I redrilled two holes on it and had to get another neighbor to weld one spot on it but it fit just fine. I think as long as it is the same hight and width and the inlet and outlet match up reasonably, anything will fit.

 

How did your daughter put a hole in it?? Just wonderin. Lol..
