Need to rebuild an '88 454 carb in a motorhome. Wanted to use AC Delco but they don't make them any more. What other brands are good and have parts that can take today's fuels.
Dear AK....., Go to local marine store, (WEST MARINE) and ask for a mercruiser 454 (7.4L.) carb. rebuild kit. Or search the websites for carb rebuilders parts sources. Be sure and use the original secondary rods with the real small tips.Very important for the motor home engine application. Sincerely, X-Jet Boat Bill
Just make sure that that Q jet is the original for that engine/vehicle combo. A good friend that was a wizard on Q jets who has since p***ed away ran across many that were mix and match built from as many as 4 or 5 different carbs.Seems like Q jets were made for just about everything but Briggs and Strattons. If this is old info someone can fire up the flame thrower and roast my *** like a turkey. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
I get my Q-Jet Kits from Cliff Ruggles, made to live with todays poor quality gas and top quality. Here is the link to his website, just pick up the phone and give them a call: http://www.cliffshighperformance.com/
