I am ready to order the sheet metal for the floor in my 26 T coupe. I am wondering what most of you use. 16 gauge just seems to be so heavy and my bead roller won't make a good bead in it. 18 gauge seems to be a little light, but with some bead rolling and some extra support would probably be strong enough. I think that the body is 19 gauge, but the original floors I removed were so far gone I couldn't tell what they were. Anybody have a recommendation? My second thought is to use 3/4" marine plywood. Good or bad idea? My project is coming right along. New frame is completed. Front and rear suspension is completed. Steering box is in. Radiator mounted. Engine and trans mounted. Thanks for any help.
Sure, why not? If it fits into the channels I think I see? Like on original pickups trucks all the way in the 60s etc, there was a simple sheetmetal heat shield where the tailpipe gets close at the rear axle. So, as long as you think about that, it would be fine, and get you a solid feel, IMO
