My truck came with a fairly fresh 8V battery which I'd like to use at least until it ****s out. But I have a 6v Delco 3 unit regulator (generator system), so it doesn't keep the battery up. Is it feasible to adjust the regulator to charge at a higher rate?

Yes,but the best results will come from having someone who knows how to do it do it. If you wish to try it yourself get a Motors manual and read up on the way to do it.

Adjust only the voltage regulator contacts, not the current or cutout.

  4. I've hooked up a meter , and then bent the tabs that the springs are hooked to. I believe I did the voltage , and the cutout , don't have to go much , and with the meter hooked to the 'batt post , you will get there , BUT, If you are not comfortable with wiring . Get someone who is familiar with regulated systems , still a few of them around , If you do something wrong , or short something , it WILL burn those tiny wires .

Thanks guys. I hooked up a voltmeter to the bat terminal, was showing about 7.5v. I bent the spring mounting tab down on the voltage coil only and now it's about 8.7v. Hopefully it will do the trick.
