I've got a good marine head for my 181 Chevy ii banger that I'm getting ready to send to the machine shop what all can or should be done to this head I'm going with screw in studs and roller rockers for sure. First, i'd make sure your intake manifold and headers will fit. The 181 head and factory Chevy II head can be much different in that area.
I have an 8 port marine head and gonna fab an intake and have a header flange for the 8 port head. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I just read about these engines yesterday evening. Below is the thread I started on. Don't know if there is anything there to help but it was interesting. Ok, then you'll be fine. As far as what mods to do, installing bigger valves and some light porting will help out.
They already have 1.94 IN and 1.6 Ex ,ya really think you need more? For a street engine a good valve job and knock any flash off the ports and be done with it.
