I am desperately trying to find the history of my car. There is quite a story with it that I will summarize here. For the history and details of my search so far please see this thread on trifive.com: http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70492 Grandpas car: See photo below with my mom and her favorite horse. Details as my mom and uncles remember - Dark green with a light green top, green interior, automatic trans. My grandpa is believed to be the second owner, then sold the car in 1964 sometime after the photo was taken. My car: 210 2dr sedan(same as Grandpas), trim tag and original paint on the body shows Neptune Green body, Seamist Green top, green interior, automatic trans, 6 cyl. SEE WHY I WANT TO FIND OUT THE HISTORY OF MY CAR!!!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!??!! Exactly the same in every detail that I know. I bought the car from the south side of Dayton OH from a craigslist add. Only later did I find out about the picture my mom had of grandpas car. She about p***ed out when I pointed out the original paint on my car!! Devine intervention? Fate? Or just a similar car and an odd coincidence?? History and details of my car: One repaint in g***er orange...quick job, side 210 stainless was masked, not removed from the car,... not a g***er in the true sense...still had coil spring/a-arm front end on original frame. Unique rear wheel cutouts. Crude traction bar setup. Tube rear push bar bumper. Believed to be based near Lima/Anna OH in its racing days. Possibly the car was called "Amigo" or "the Amigo" ANYONE REMEMBER THIS CAR???? Possibly raced at Pence Dragway in Piqua or others in the Miami Valley, North East Indiana areas. THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL INFO!!!!! Greg
Would be pretty neat if it may be the same car. On a side not.....cinder blocks are about the worst thing you could possibly use to space your jack stands up higher. I really hope no one is under that car when they do finally fail you.
Thanks for looking out for me!!...but it is no longer in this configuration. The body is back on the frame and it is in epoxy primer. I no longer use cinder blocks under a car, even if it is just the body. Here is a modified photo of what the car likely looked like in its racing days. G***er orange with a mock vinyl top...kind of a black crinkle paint. Hard to say what wheels it had or if there was a hood scoop. Any Lima/Piqua/Dayton area members remember such a car?????
I had forgotten about the sticker on the gl*** until I posted the pic of the car above. Luckily I still had the gl*** and the sticker is legible!! Does anyone know if Gratiot was mostly a local shop or if they were very popular for building drag engines back in the day??? Maybe this car was a Michigan car rather than a OH car!?! Although it still had a 72 OH plate on it when I bought it. Thanks for any and all help!!!!!!!!!!!! Greg
Any chance your grandpas car could have been a del ray having the unique del ray vinyl interior that your mom or uncles would recognize by seeing a photo? Your grandpas car is 2 toned like a del ray If it had the delray interior it would have the style on the cowl tag as 55-1011A If yours is just a plain 210 it would just be 55-1011
After blowing it up a little Your grandpas car actually looks like a belair. Notice the quarter spear it looks like the wide one with the painted center and there is a glare off that back window post that looks like belair window stainless and I can see a faint line coming back on the door where the belair front spear would be. Sorry but thats what I think.
No need to be sorry....thats why I started this thread to get some help on the subject. I appreciate the feedback!! I felt my Grandpas car was a Bel Air to begin with but my uncle had all but convinced me it was a 210. He said it didnt have the trim on the fender and door. I had mentioned that I thought you could faintly see the Crest & Bel Air script on the qtr but he said I was seeing things...lol. Also, I thought it looked like Bel Air trim with white paint in the middle on the qtr but he said thats just the glare and shine....he had me all but convinced until you commented on it. I never noticed the shadow on the door before until you pointed it out!! I will have to look at the original photo and see if its there! Hey, and if its not my Grandpas I dont have to feel so guilty about making it MINE!!! Thanks again!! Greg
