Just finished reading the thread. Great build and you are lucky to find the 'right' girl. One question and maybe I missed it; What size tires are you running? And I ***ume the stock 16" wheels clear the disc calipers? You inspire me!

    Thanks!

The stock wheels clear everything just fine, they are stock 16" x very narrow rims and the tires are.... Something like 215/65/r16 I pulled that out of thin air but its probably correct. The tire is right at 27 inches tall :)

cool man, i sure dig ours :)

no real news to report but here is a video clip of our drive threw the park the other day.

It's from the day we had friends visiting, Matt sent me this little clip from his iphone the other day.

The car rides smooth but those old springy seats still give a little dude a good bounce around it seems from the video! haha

Yeah i've read threw all those posts, just feel not all that comfortable with the tar idea.

I did however consider it as an option for a good while. I imagine the car is going to feel quite a bit different with all this winters work done. We are hoping to get it all done and shook down in time to cruise to the poverty flats tent for the KKOA weekend with out having to think about it to much :)

Yeh, I'm kinda in the same boat with the sound proofing. I like all the reviews and options tho.

yeah im starting to lean towards the fatmat right now. i guess we'll find out in a couple months when i get around to it haha :)

feels weird to be taking a running driving car apart, but I guess ya gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette ;)

I'm trying not to make it un driveable while its tore apart maybe just........ really inconvenient to drive.

I figure that way if it needs turned around or moved I can do that, but I wont be tempted to take it for a spin and grind progress to a halt.

    Alright progress!

Out side of hitting my car with a hammer and torch I got this to happen!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1383689484.446284.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1383689497.129986.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1383689506.626940.jpg

The back windows haven't moved in at least a decade.

A every once in a while I spray some wd40 in the general direction of the regulators and etc but today I flooded them and then grabbed the p***enger handle!

I got it to roll all the way down, well as far as I think they go by going down a little then back up the same. I figured it would help the wd40 get all up in there.

I sprayed it a few times as it came
Down figuring different parts of the gears would be exposed.

Rolled it up and then back! It seems to be stiff going down but other wise fine. If I could see what I was doing I'd kroil it all but I'll let this soak in for now.

The drivers side rolled back easy enough but it only went maybe 1/4 inch down and sometimes not at all.

It sounds kinda sandy, when it rolls down like wet "rust dust" I didn't push it because I didn't want to break it but I figure ill just let it keep soaking. The rear of that window doesn't fit super snug anyways so I don't want to go breaking stuff.

Anyhow, small progress report for ya :)

    Hi,

Really liking your thread! I am in the UK and brought a 46 Tudor from the states last year and had it shipped over! I am going down the hotted up flathead and T5 manual box route! Here are some pics

Cool man! I'm envious of your rear fenders. Mine look like a bag of hammers :S

That's interesting. The rear windows in my 47 feel exactly the same, and don't fit any better!

I had the rear windows out of mine, pretty good the way the panel comes out with the gl***! I then stripped it down and cleaned the regulators up, they work real smooth now.

I figure that's the side that saw more weather?

Can you tell me or maybe post photos of how it comes out/apart?

A**** many other things this winter it's getting interior so now the time to mess with it.

    Any help is appreciated :)

    Hi,

You will need to take the door panel/card off which should be some small chrome screws.

The back seat needs to come out.

Then as you look at the window from the inside there are 3 or 4 big flat head screws on the door side that screw into the door pillar. Near the back of the car there more flat head screws that fix to the body. Al the screws have the same head and are the same size with crinkle washers. They are located on the edge of the window panel so no need to touch any of the screws nearer the middle of the panel.

When i removed the panel i left the screws on the door side till last and the carefully removed these whilst holding the window panel in place. Once all the screws are out the window panel should come away easily with the gl***, if possible it is better to have the window down. The panel and the gl*** are not too heavy my guess is about 5 - 10 kgs, the edges of the metal can be sharp so gloves might be advisable.

All in all an easy job, better than most cars i have worked on!

I will see if i have any pics to help!

    Cheers

    Andrew

cool, so the inner panel just comes out with everything attached?

Is the garnish molding that goes around the window come out with it or does that need removed separately?

Take the window garnish off first.

I just did this with my '41.

Yep as NortonG says take the window garnish off, which you should need to do to get the inner quarter card/panel off.

    Cool,

The interior panel/card is loooong gone.
If you look at the first page or so of this thread you'll see how "awesome" the interior was haha.

Thank you all so much as I had no idea I could just pull a few screws and work on it outside of the car. How handy! Working with windows has always been a thorn in my side having big fat hands so making it a work bench project helps alot.
