So I am cruising around on CL and spot and add that read..."Original Car Club Plaque and Jacket"....I got in touch with the seller and told him that I wanted it....duh right? Anyway....the jacket is a newer issue.....It is actually my size...so I guess wearing it wont be heretic.... the matching plaque is really cool....its a real Kohler made plaque with multiple mounting holes....if that thing could talk. Also picked up some other car club plaques..a couple are real vintage ones....so I have a couple of questions...

How much do repop jackets like this one cost new....I am sure over $100 right?
Has anyone heard of the Levriers? Anyone know what that means?
Lastly...on the plaque that came with the jacket....is it "T" Timers.....or just Timers? I ***ume their focus was hot rods and not customs...Thanks!

Levrier is French for a breed of dog, a greyhound I think.
    Maybe suggests fast cars?

I believe that the few remaining original members meet up at Teddy's Resturant on Thursday nights.

Levrier is French for greyhound...but the dog caricature doesnt look like a greyhound or fast in any way...he looks like a troublemaker to me... I wonder if they just wanted a fancy name for "dogs"....also...anyone know what valley that one refers to?

  6. Usually when "The Valley" term is used it means San Fernando Valley.

Levrier can also be translated litterally as "sitting dog" as well as being the nickname for a greyhound.

I'm not sure but I think it can be interpreted as a slang term like calling a big guy Tiny or a tall guy Shorty. Greyhounds are fast but the nickname means sitting dog. I guess it could also be interpreted as "not running" but that is even a bigger reach but it makes more sense to me because the dog on the plaque looks more like a mutt than a greyhound.

May be one of our French members will chime in here.

Actually, the T Timers was based in Santa Monica, but also had chapters all over California. I have collected a lot of info about this club and have created a page on our website about them .....

Yes, the "T-Timers" did have a chapter in Inglewood,Ca. during the mid 50's, like your pix shows.
I was a member of the "Clutchers" in Inglewood at that time, here is our old club jacket & plaque that we ran back then.

I have a 1958 T-Timers car show program. This was their first show and it doesn't say exactly where the show was held, by the ads in the program I'm sure it was some where in Santa Monica.
Some of the cars entered were Ed Roth's A sedan,Toby Halicki's 56 Buick, Gerald Twamley's 54 Chev, Ed Cousins' 32 Truck, Lee ***us' 32 roadster any several others.
Does anyone know what facility this was held at (Armory, Auditorium)?

    Mick
