I agree with the article. The '58 Studebakers make better Packards than the actual Packards of that year. But the '56s were really the last truly good-looking Packards.
A 'Packardbaker' would NOT be my first choice for a 1958 S-P product...but if I found one that I liked, for a reasonable amount, i wouldn't turn it down...
I know where there is a '57 restored frame complete with a supercharged 289. Owner plans to drop a 4 door President body on it.Bleeech! It would be much nicer with a '58 2 door hardtop body. '58 HT's are uncommon plus the added bonus of the factory McCulloch supercharger.
'56 was the last year for Packard, period, as far as I'm concerned..... The article said it best; they should've just let poor ol' Packard die while it still had at least some dignity left. On that note, '57 and '58 are my favorite year for Studes!
