Hi guys I have a 30 model A with a Pete and Jakes rear hair pin set up and a transverse rear spring, I am experiencing a lot of body roll under hard acceleration and I am looking into a rear torsion bar to control this was wondering if anyone else has any experience with these I have looked at a few different manufactures TCI, Competition engineering, Summit, etc, looking for feedback, suggestions and pics .
    Thanks Andy

"Lot of body roll under hard acceleration"

hell yeah, that's what a blower and big slicks do when working. I bet it's fun.

Your frame is likely acting like a (weak) torsion bar with that engine!!! :D

Please tell me that the frame is at least boxed.

I will bet it is or the "body roll" is understated. Oh wait, "lot of body roll".

  6. I have the comp.eng. one on my pick up you tweak it any way you want .Also if mount it correctly it will help strengthen your frame. However if that is a stock unboxed A frame It might make it worse

Hell ya the frame is boxed I am crazy, but not stupid.

Hilo hotrodder does your comp torsion bar have splines on the ends? I have seen there cheaper bar that is unspilned and was concerned about that.

I think you want an anti roll bar, or anti sway bar. A torsion bar runs in place of a spring. It does not combat body roll or sway.

Anti-roll/anti-sway bars are torsion bars. Their name describes what they do, not what they are.
All are springs that function by resisting twisting along their longitudinal axis.

The heidts SB-009 is simple and clean looking and the price isn't that bad.

You can also check out Speedway Engineerings site. You can buy splined bars in multiple lengths, and arms.

Also Builder series has a kit where the arm is welded on one side and you drill and pin the other side.

  12. The one I have is a hefty tube mounted across the frame you slide the arms on it pin them with grade 8 bolts . It has 2 turnbuckle links .
