If I remember correctly, they are modified 32 studebaker. I had one single 32 Stude 18" artillery, made by Firestone. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
They are 1932 Studebaker artillery wheels...centers probably modified to fit Ford....Studes in '32 had these or wire wheels as options...there were no wooden artillery wheels in 1932....Joe See link for photos and more info: http://forums.aaca.org/f126/1932-studebaker-wheel-question-313484.html
Yep, they're 32 Studebaker wheels for sure. I had a conversation with Jimmy Shine last year at SEMA about those wheels...but I can't remember the details. I think he modified the hubs to use the Ford caps? The hubs should already have the same bolt pattern as Ford, I think. On second thought, I think he said he used different outers and mated them to the Stude centers.
The studebaker 18" artillery wheels are 5 on 5.5" pattern just like early Ford. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
My 18" wires are 5 on 6" pattern...may be queer to the President...Not sure...mine are also 40 spoke (rare, normally 36 spoke) I would think the artillery bolt pattern would be the same, but as I said that may be only the President...mine are also Kelsey Hayes...Joe
There were different bolt patterns for different models of Stude. I can't remember now what model the 18" Firestone artillery wheels came on. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Kinda figured that....I've requested an answer to resolve this from my friend Studebaker guru Richard Quinn....will let know when I hear from him.....Joe
