What years are which on the upper steering column tapper/splines? I am interested in which year steering wheels will fit which columns. Are 40 thru 47 all interchangeable? What years and styles are the pickups (48 thru 53)? etc.

40 thru 47 tapered shafts are the same. I just used a 47 steering shaft with a 39 banjo wheel. Not sure on the trucks.

I have a 50 f1 steering box and need to know what steering shafts are compatible with a 39 banjo wheel. The 40 thru 47 are as steems states above, but are the later truck shafts?

32-48 car shafts will have the taper. Model A columns are probably the same also. All the later shafts will be splined. You will need to weld a stub on the F-1 shaft. You will need to be carefull with the orintation of the key so the wheel wil be straight. I clamp the shaft and the stub very tightly on a piece of angle ironto keep everything straight. I use vicegrips to grip the parts.

    Thanks Andy for the input!

  7. Model A taper is significantly bigger than the '32-'48 taper, its about .8" at bottom and about 0.73" at top. the later wheels will not fit on a Model A.

  8. Andy is correct but all columns do not have the same bell where the steering wheel meets, the earlier bell wont mate up to a 40 up steering wheel. HRP
