Technical 1958 corvette

    are the 1958 corvette rear ends the same at the 55-57 chevys? im working on a 49 chevy. i havent picked up the rearend yet. trying to do some research to see if its close to the same with as my 49 thanks.

    Same as 56-57, 55 had smaller pinion shaft but the rest is the same.

    If it is truly a rearend out of a 58 Corvette I would think you could sell it to a restorer for enough dough to buy a custom 9" setup for your car. Vette people pay a lot for original parts even if they are interchangeable with standard Chevies..

    it was taken out for a street rod up grade. to 9 inch ford. entire running gear was removed with less than 30k miles

    It is NOT the same. The thing that isn't the same is the axle flanges where the backing plates bolt. They are at a different angle. I found that out years ago. :)
