I probably got this in the wrong forum but Mousie needs you hoodlums to talk to the Big Man upstairs. He is in the hospital undergoing gall bladder surgery , the Croakers feel his recovery will be his biggest hurdle because of his weakened condition . I figure between his bullheaded stubbornness and a few words will get him through a tough race . S
Hopes, prayers, and well wishes goes out to Mousie. I met him a few years ago at a Christmas party and we BS'd for a long time about racing the Winged Express and Willie Borsch. Man, what a cool guy. I had heard that he wasn't feeling well. Let's hope that the Gall Bladder surgery goes well, and he's on the road to recovery soon.
I 'm Sure that Mouse would like that , Flatnlow. He's had a rough couple years , hip replacement that was really badly done and then pneumonia, then they take the "Wing" to CHRR and get whupped by Bradford's fiat !
Yeah, I was there. Randy and the gang really stepped up their Fiat and laid one on Mike and the 'Express. I don't if anybody could have ran with Randy at the CHRR. They had that car dialed. If memory serves me correctly, I think they ran a 6.53. We were trying to get ready for the Cacklefest, and I ran to the fence to watch the run and then ran back to the truck.
Mousie came through the surgery OK and is in recovery, they did remove the gallbladder rather than just the stones which requires a larger incision and more trauma afterward. Drs. are optimistic he will have a good recovery. The next few days will be painful . He will have to change his diet and stay away from In-N-Outs double-doubles and fats. Rock on Mousie !
Yes, Pop Bradford and "the kid" have been really working the bugs out of the Fiat . Mike has raced them many times and true to fuel altered rules , the swiftest does not always win , something about crossing lines .
That's good to hear that he made out out of surgery OK. I hate to think how bad he was feeling before the surgery, fighting a gall bladder issue and trying to get over pneumonia. Must have been awful. Let's hope he gets back to his usual self soon.
Coming back from Boise several years back , I was following the 'ol dodge that was towing the Wing on an open trailer , Was in my fairly new F150 with the A/C on and we decided to give Mouse a break from the heat and he climbed in and just kicked back to a short nap. We were on the "long" route that runs from Ely south to Pioche/ Caliente, Nv. No traffic and a beautiful drive through the broad valleys of central Nv.. Mouse begas rambling about his younger years and growing up with Willy ,the were pals from age 8 and could have been brothers as Willy spent most his time at the Marcellus household . With tears in his eyes and a lump in his throat he told me how much he missed his old partner . To be sure just like brothers ,they had their spats , dissolved partnerships , rejoined because they decided that neither was any good without the other. put tears in my eyes too.
Did Mousie ever tell you the story when they were back East racing the Express and it's in the middle of the night and Willie is curled up in the p***enger seat sleeping. (Willie had narcolepsy, and that's a whole other story). He wakes up from a dead sleep and tells Mousie that he's going to check on something in the trailer and he opens the door and starts climbing out at 70mph on the freeway! Mousie grabbed his jacket and probably saved his life. Mousie also said that Willie would always fall asleep in the staging lanes, and they would wake him up by nudging the car with the push truck. It always impressed me that all of the crazy pictures of Willie crossed up and sideways were taken literally moments after he woke up from a nap!! When I talked with Mousie about Willie, you can tell that he really loved the guy and he misses him dearly.
i met mousie at chrr2010 and he was really kool to chat with .still have his autographed pic with the winged express sideways up on my desk. best wishes for a speedy recovery
