First I would like to thank every one of you who emailed me, called, sent PM's... leads, what to look for, where to look, etc.... it helped. I cannot believe how many people contacted me. Thank you.

We found a numbers matching 1970. One owner. Protecto plate. Owners manual. Recent repaint. Original interior. 115k miles. A badass car for a decent price.

Now I'll give you a bit of background. My Pops has always wanted a Corvette. Had to be a Stingray. In 1971, they looked at a brand new 1970 . Silver... Financing was set up and Pops decided not to buy it cause a baby was on the way... that baby was me.

My whole life, we just knew he wanted one. He'd talk about it but never act on it. EVERYBODY came before Pops getting a Vette. We knew we'd have to get one for him.

We've tried for years. Maybe a fixxer upper? Saw one on my walk but it was an '82. A friend of a friend has one in the backyard, maybe they'd sell?? We came really close once... a 69 that would need a little work. We got the finances in order but were too late....

My Grandma died a few months ago and some money came out of that. I knew what was gonna happen. Mom knew. My sister knew. EVERYONE knew cept Pops!

With a lot of help from you guys and a little luck, we found this sweetie in Carlsbad, CA. Hasn't been driven since 1982. I tuned it up, swapped the hoses, flushed the radiator... thats it. It drives like a new car!

Today was the day. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. We made a book for him. Letters from the family. The story of buying the car. Copies of all the paperwork. He was overwhelmed.

Everyone got a ride. Mom. My sister. My brother in law. My wife. My kids. My niece and nephew. Then me. Pops said " I haven't driven something this fast in a long time" I said "keep your foot to the floor til it shifts" He did, it chirped the tires... he threw his hand out the top and yelled "YES!"

Here's some pics. Thanks again fellas. Means the world to me.

    Jason

  3. WOW!!! Im happy for your dad. I know the feeling you must of got when he first saw it. I did a similar thing for my father with his sitting 64 Stingray coupe that he never had time to get running because of his vintage drum business. He now drives it often when he is not playing drums and Im glad to see it........

    Jason,

Haven't talked ta ya since the Kustoms by TSR days when I had my cousin Kenny go by & pick up a couple of magazines for me when you were based out of Hesperia, You still in that shop:confused: I read this post and thought that this was a great gift to give to your dad!!!!! I'm sure that you just made him feel 15yrs younger!!!!;) I had several vettes, don't miss the ones that I had, but do miss the feeling getting put deep in the seat under hard accel, those were fun times, Congrats to your dad, Mom & you done GOOD!:D

What a cool deal, nothing better than giving back to your Pop, very cool....In the 8th picture, is the kid in the red shirt flipping off someone or looking at the booger he just picked ??
