I get these questions all the time. We put together the FORD FLATHEAD V8 ENGINE website 4 years ago, and it includes an ENGINE IDENTIFICATION link that breaks down the various years/versions. Most of you flathead lovers have probably visited the site at least once, and know what is up there. For those that havent, check it out. Be prepared to spend an hour or more on the site. A**** other things, it includes all the basic motor specifications, tune-up specs, parts drawings galore, vehicle model identifications with pics, etc. I'm still amazed after almost 5 years how often the site is visited. Like any car project (including my own '39 Ford) it's still a work in progress.

A**** the many message boards out there for Ford car nuts like us, the HAMB and the FORDBARN stand out as the very best, and I check them both nearly every day. Kudos to Ryan and the moderators for an excellant resource here at the HAMB!

even my grandfather, who was a mechanic in the 50s, has learned new facts from it!

I end up visiting your site at least once for everytime I pick up a wrench to work on my car.

Great place with invaluable information. Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm not lookin for praise here....just want to get the website url out for those who are wondering which flattie is which. There are plenty of real top-notch flathead experts on this board, and I'm grateful to all of them for their sharing of knowledge.
